Are you ready to fight?

I recently won a free month membership to the UFC gym down in Soho!  I am incredibly excited to try out all of the different classes that are available!  I’m here to tell you all about the perks about having a membership at UFC Soho!  (This is my honest opinion!)

  • Memberships to the gym INCLUDE classes!  A lot of the time, gym memberships charge you for you classes in addition to your regular membership.  Not at UFC!
  • You can walk into any class…no signing up required!  No more tedious accounts, registering for classes, or worrying that someone is going to take your spot.  You can attend what classes work for you!
  • Over 50 classes available each week for you to take!
  • Don’t like group fitness classes?  UFC still has you covered with a fully equipped gym and trainers ready to help you one on one.
  • It’s a 24 HOUR GYM Monday-Friday and 8 am – 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Your gym time on your own time!
  • UFC Soho is fully furnished with a locker room and showers, but be sure to bring your own lock or purchase one at the front desk.
  • Want to rep UFC Soho from head to toe?  They have a shop at the front desk with products ranging from wraps and gloves to water bottles and tshirts!
  • Everyone is incredibly friendly, despite the UFC stereotypes.  Everyone is down to earth and happy to help you!

It’s Getting HOT in Here!

One of my new years resolutions for 2015 was to get back into the practice of Hot Yoga, or Vinyasa Yoga. My freshman year at FIT, I took a basic Yoga class for my required gym credit. I really enjoyed the practice, learning about the different poses and their sanskrit names and translations.

That first yoga class led me to learn about “Hot Yoga.” Hot Yoga is where you do a regular yoga class, however you’re doing the class in a room heated from 100-110 degrees Fahrenheit. Sounds more like torture than relaxing yoga, but trust me, it has many benefits – physically and mentally.

I started taking classes again recently at Yoga To The People, right here on 27th street! Although there are many locations around the city, I enjoy the spacious 27th street studio and it’s physically close to my life at FIT. I sweat gallons during the class, and I can definitely feel it the next day. I’m looking forward to finding my flow again and bringing it back into my routine.

I write this post to encourage us all to find something here in New York that keeps us active! Being the center of the universe, New York has many, many different options. You think of it, New York’s got it – and probably the best you can find. Take a break from your school work, get out of the work room and blow off some steam!

In these frigid winter months, it’s hard to get yourself out of the house. But it’s worth it! Don’t want to walk too far? There are some great and unique options right down the block from FIT. You could take Yoga class at Yoga to the People, a pole dancing strength class at Body & Pole or even a Kickboxing class at iLoveKickboxing. The options in this city are endless! Try many different things. Find what you enjoy!

Stay warm & Stay active!

xx,

Unleash Your Inner Athlete

For all my fitness junkies out there or anyone that wants to mix up their weekly workout routine, check out Tone House!  With a large studio space, amber lights, and top of the line equipment, you won’t be disappointed.  Tone House offers various classes such as Lower Body/Core, Upper Body/Core, Core Focus, Total Body, and Conditioning.  Each class is an hour long that is filled with non-stop movement and hard core training that will push you to your limits.  As my instructor said throughout, “We are breaking boundaries here.”  The classes are for any fitness level, but let it be known that they are INTENSE.  From the moment that the class starts, you feel like a family and a team.  Everyone is cheering you one and encouraging you to finish what you started.  For the first class, the cost is $20.  I tried out the Total Body class and man am I going to be sore but I am going to go back and make myself become stronger.  Check out the video below from The Sweat Life to see what Tone House is all about!
