Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great long weekend and Valentine’s day. I recently took one of my first trips of 2016, it was a 3 day trip to Boston. It was a last minute decision but I am officially hooked, I think I need to move there! What is great about the area is that you can take a train there from NYC, drive there its a 3-4 hour drive depending on where in New Jersey or New York you are.
For my trip I drove it took 4 hours and 40 minutes from central jersey. It was an awesome road trip there was so much to see on the way as well as when we were there.
The weekend was filled with so many fun sites and shopping, and did I forget to mention… the best lobster I have ever eaten! We arrived on Friday night at the West end of Boston, at the Liberty hotel. 
I have to say this was the coolest place I have ever stayed at. It used to be one of the first prisons in Boston, that was recently renovated into a hotel. The picture above is the lobby, you can see where they changed cell blocks into sitting/bar areas. The light fixtures are original and refurbished to working chandlers, as well as the original brick and beautiful window you see above. It was the most beautifully designed places I’ve ever been in.
After we settled in on Friday and explored the huge hotel we walked around Quincy market, which is an indoor and outdoor shopping area. The space was filled with beautiful statues and shopping and more lobster (haha). I don’t think I have ever been so full, and gained about 5 pounds just from the 2 days. We mostly tried to stay inside it was only 7 degrees and within minutes I got frostbite on my face.
Besides that, All of the streets were cobblestone , the history, the architecture all blew me away. Although I was surprised at how small Boston actually was, and how quite. Coming from New York city being our closest city were used to everything very bright and loud and millions of people. But when we got to Boston on Friday we went to eat at 8:30-9 and no one was on the street it was so quite. It was definitely a different atmosphere but that’s really what made me love it more. It has the city feel I was missing from back home but its still pretty suburban. I really didn’t want to come home and come back to my desk but I will definitely be visiting again soon when its not so cold!
