The First Week

As the first week of school officially comes to a close, let’s just say I’m relieved…that it’s over.  For all new students reading this, you’re not the only one feeling overwhelmed.  As a junior, I still have my biannual night before classes start nightmare and I always show up to class a good 30 minutes early JUST incase the professor declares 9:00 am the starting time instead of 9:10.

I think that it is important that we do get uncomfortable with our daily lives every once in a while.  Yes, a routine and feeling steady is a beautiful, beautiful thing, it is important that we challenge ourselves.  Being at FIT has challenged me every single day to step outside of my daily habits and outside of my usual realm of thinking.

Every semester, I feel uncomfortable with my schedule, daily routine, homework, projects, and expectations for a good 4 weeks.  Until then, I have to remind myself that my uneasy feeling about school and my future is only temporary.  It is very difficult to see past that especially when thinking about all of your assignments potentially make you want to lose hope.  It does get better and the semester will continue regardless of your fear.  Keep your head up and remind yourself that you are special and talented enough to get into FIT.  You’re here for a reason.

  1. I’m so glad i found this. I really have some question to students who go to FIT but i never knew how and where i can contact them. My main question was college tips for FIT. Basically if it was possible to let them know that i’m really interested in applying for this school when i graduate. (Class of 2017!! 🙂 ) Or the requirement i need for the school and their expectations. Is it possible that you can answer these for me or direct me to someone who can answer them for me. If not i completely understand.

    1. Hi Tianna,

Thank you for reaching out! I think the best thing to do is attend Junior Day in the spring! At Junior Day you’ll find out what FIT expects from you with the application process, grades, and what life is like at FIT. You can find more information about Junior Day at https://www.fitnyc.edu/22008.asp

      Hope that helps!
