Steps to Self-Love

Hi all,

Happy Valentines Day! Today is the day we recognize those we love in extravagant ways — whether family, better halves or good friends. However, I want to challenge all of you to celebrate one more person in your life: YOU. Self-love is important to living well. It influences who you pick to be a part of your life, the image you project to society and how you cope with the problems in your life. You should always put your well-being first and I want you to know how to bring more of it into your life:

  1. Practice good self-care. You will love yourself more when you take better care of your basic needs. People high in self-love pamper themselves daily through healthy activities, like nutrition, exercise, proper sleep, intimacy and healthy social interactions. In other words, treat yo’self.
  2. Set boundaries. You’ll love yourself more when you set limits or say no to work, love, or activities that deplete or harm you physically, emotionally and spiritually, or express poorly who you are. Discipline is everything.
  3. Protect yourself. Bring the right people into your life. Get rid of “frenemies” and don’t waste your time on people who don’t add value to your life. There isn’t enough time in your life to waste on people who want to take away the shine on your face that says, “I genuinely love myself and life”. You will love and respect yourself more.

Always remember to put yourself first and strive for happiness. You are worthy.
