
FIT’s student-athletes excelled in a range of sports in 2016. The college has intercollegiate teams in tennis, cross-country, half-marathon, track and field, dance, swimming, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, and table tennis. The Tigers compete in Region XV of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Among 2016’s highlights:
- The women’s tennis team was runner-up in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship.
- Cross country head coach Joe Plutz was named regional and district Coach of the Year. In 2016, he coached the Tigers to a first-place finish in the region and tenth at the national meet.
- The women’s cross country team met their goal of cracking the top ten at the NJCAA Nationals.
- Swimmer Myles Gala was named Region XV Male Athlete of the Month in October.
