FIT’s mascot has always been a tiger. His furry orange pelt could often be seen around campus, at athletic events, and at commencement. He danced, he played, he dispensed hugs to students during finals week. But he never had a name. He was always just “The FIT Tiger.” Then, during 2015 Legacy Week, he finally got an official moniker. The votes poured in, and the name was announced: Stitch. Now he’s out and about with a new feline fierceness, having come into his own at last.
Legacy Week, which took place in November, wasn’t all about naming tigers. It was a time for the FIT community to come together to honor the college’s past, celebrate its present, and look ahead to the future. A range of events were held, from Parents Day to an alumni panel to the Black Student Union fashion show, and Illustration students delighted passersby by chalking amazing designs on the FIT façade. A wonderful time was had by all. Especially Stitch. Hear the latest from Stitch on the blog, Tiger Nation.
