FIT’s BFA program in Toy Design was the first of its kind, and it’s still going strong after 25 years. Graduates are employed at every major toy company, and at smaller independent companies, too. They work on products including the most iconic—Barbie, Mr. Potato Head, Lego—and collaborate to create toys based on familiar characters in movies, TV shows, and books—from Sponge Bob to Frozen’s Elsa to Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This extraordinary program, founded and still chaired by Judy Ellis, is based on a respect for children and for the role of play in their physical, emotional, and social development.
