Being a 14 year old freshman in high school and living in suburban Springfield, New Jersey, I consider coming to New York City to be my weekly getaway from the conventional UGG’s and jeans back at home.

Attending FIT classes every Saturday is the one and only thing I look forward to every single week. I am confident that I am predestined to live in Manhattan one day and attend college at FIT. The feeling I get when being in Manhattan is unlike any other; I experience this instant sensation that doesn’t make me want to be anywhere else. The versatility of people and their unique senses of style inspire me to be my own person and not be afraid to express myself.

This Spring I am taking the HFM 060: Fashion Forecasting: Seeing into the Future and have previously taken the HSX 060: Mannequin Madness Precollege workshop back in the fall. I chose this particular class because I have never heard of a “fashion forecaster” before and felt it was a really critical job once I got familiar with it. I mean, whose more influential in the fashion industry besides the person who actually starts the trends?

Obviously I have a strong interest in fashion, but to be honest that is about my only passion. However, I am fine with that because it has been my lifelong dream for my life to utterly revolve around fashion, day in and day out (along with traveling the world!). My goal at FIT is to discover, specifically, what I want to major in because I’m not completely sure yet. My mind drifts from a fashion stylist one day to visual presentation the next. Ultimately, my dream job would have to be a creative director! Now that I am done babbling on, I am overjoyed to be able to share my weekly experiences with you guys and I hope you truly “take in” something from each one of my posts!
