Neiman Marcus explores ‘social sharing’

Department store chain Neiman Marcus paired with blog ThisNext.com to create Shoe Dish, the first ‘social sharing’ Facebook application where consumers can share shoes with their friends and buy them through the application.

In order to utilize the application, consumers must “like” ShoeDish on Facebook. They will then be able to locate the application by searching for Shoe Dish in the Facebook search or through links provided by Neiman Marcus’s Facebook Page as well as ThinkNext Facebook page.

The application has truly focused on the social sharing function, as one feature suggests shoes to Facebook user’s friends to see it there’s a ‘match.’  Based on the conclusion determines whether the user shares the shoes and on which sharing outlet ie. their friend’s Facebook wall, Twitter or even Tumblr.

Based on the answer, the consumer can share the shoes on their friend’s Facebook wall or through Tumblr and Twitter.

This also help consumer’s bookmark their favorite shoes for future purchases, as well as search for inspiration.

Neiman Marcus’ extensive footwear catalog will be the main revenue source of the Facebook app and will feature styles from brands including Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Christian Louboutin and Valentino.

Neiman Marcus is extremely interested in focusing on engaging with their consumers, and this is the perfect and playful outlet for them to only engage with people whom have a passion for shoes.
