At the eager request of my professor, another FIT Precollege student and I went to the MET to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit this past Sunday. My first visit to the MET was wonderful! More pictures of my trip on my personal blog http://bobbieaustinscloset.blogspot.com/
Aside from my goals to enter the editorial side of the fashion industry and become a notable editor/journalist, I know I have to go on a few coffee runs and answer a few phones to get where I want to be. But I hope FIT will be the school to prepare me for what happens beyond the busy internship years. Hoping to apply to FIT for the Advertising and Marketing majors, a portfolio may not be as important to me as it may be for an interior or fashion design major. However, in my Fabric Styling for Fashion class we have been making celebrity style boards that would be great additions to my portfolio if I do need to put one together.
With two more years of High School ahead of me, and a few more classes under my belt, I hope to gain even more experience and master more than one craft. Aside from my journalism dreams, I would love to become a creative director for magazine shoots. My professor always tells the class that most designers, stylist, models, and other fashion industry strongholds never just have one talent, they are triple threats, sometimes more or less, but they never stay just within their respected craft. With that in mind I hope to test the waters and find other strengths that could help me out with my pre established goals.
