Claira Zambon Versland is a Global Fashion Retail Executive and independent consultant. Over the last 20 years, she has built a career of continuous success in the retail industry with a proven track record of strategic leadership in some of the largest fashion retailers in Latin America.

As Chief Merchandising Officer, Claira has led a 250-million-dollar business, where she was accountable for the overall product and marketing strategies. In addition to her corporate experience, over the last four years as a senior retail consultant and advisor, she has been working with global and domestic retailers to understand their consumers’ behavior, develop strategic plans in brand positioning, and create marketing effectiveness benchmarks. Her areas of expertise include Strategic Marketing, Brand Strategy, Consumer Behavior, Business Strategy, Market Research, Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Global Sourcing, Private Label, Product Development, E-commerce, Vertical Retailing, Omni-Channel Integration, and Competition Analysis.

Claira has joined FIT as a CCPS adjunct instructor in 2018. As Adjunct Professor, she currently teaches at Fordham University, LIM College, Pratt Institute and Saint Francis College.  She holds a BA degree in Business Administration and a Graduate’s degree in Marketing (MPS), both from one of the most prestigious universities in Brazil, PUCRS. She also has a Certificate in Omni-Channel Retail from FIT (2017), and a Certificate in Strategic Digital Marketing from City, University of London (2018).
