Magazine of the Week

Hi, everyone, welcome back!

L’Officiel 1000 Modeles is a spinoff of the venerable L’Officiel de la Couture et de la Mode magazine. This magazine was begun in 1921, by Max Brunhes, and began covering the couture industry in Paris by the early 1930s.

During WWII, the magazine continued publication despite the shutdown of the Paris fashion industry. However, the editors printed the magazine with red, white, and blue covers as a nod to the French Resistance movement.

From the 1930s onward, the Jalou family has run the title, expanding it to publish in Spain, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, and China, among many other countries. We also subscribe to Jalouse, another title by the same publisher. Many of their titles are available electronically through the Les Editions Jalou online archive.

In 1996 the Jalou Group launched the 1000 Modeles title, which is produced monthly. It specializes in runway coverage, both of the established Paris and Milan couture houses, but also New York, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janiero ready to wear. The title also includes several accessories issues a year, which publish pages upon pages of neat rows of handbags, shoes, jewelry, eyeglasses, and other accessories from the worldwide collections. Besides covering establish design houses, the title prides itself on it’s detailed coverage of up-and-coming designers.

    Hi!

Is it still possible to have access to Les Editions Jalou online archive? The link http://patrimoine.editionsjalou.com/lofficiel-de-la-mode-sommairepatrimoine-13.html seems not to work…

Thank you very much for your answer!

    Best,
    PJ

      Hi,
Thanks for pointing that out. I can’t find a new link to replace that one. Perhaps they’ve taken online access to back issues down.
