My Favorite Day of the Year

Commencement is my favorite day of the year and Commencement 2014 was, as far as I am concerned, one of our best, most joyous, ever. Every participant was outstanding. But most outstanding, I think, were our graduates who, for the first time ever, walked across the stage as their names were called. This was something our students have been wanting to do for many years, but with about 800 graduates for each of our two ceremonies, we were uncertain if we could do this within a reasonable amount of time. As it turned out, we did–and the students and their families were thrilled. So were we. This gave the podium party–faculty, guest speakers, administrators and trustees–a chance to see, up close and personal, not only the smiles on our students’ faces, but also the most spectacular and creative parade of shoes and caps imaginable, as you see from these photos.
