Daniel Pelavin, Faculty, Speaks on When Worlds Collide

Daniel Pelavin joins other legendary designers and illustrators, Seymour Chwast, Tom White and Gerard Herta to speak about the worlds of design and illustration at a Graphic Artist Guild sponsored panel discussion.

Explore the evolving hybrid world of illustration visual design and technology.
Daniel will be a part of a panel discussion on design and illustration to discuss, teach and explore in sharp clear focus, the vast range of tools, ideas, the creative process and how illustrator/designer approach thier client projects. Also up for discussion-other tactics available to all illustrators, visual designers and other creative professionals.
The Panelists:
Seymour Chwast regarded as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century, is founder of the world famous Push Pin Studios. It would be difficult to imagine contemporary American and European graphic design and illustration without the presence of Seymour Chwast.
Daniel Pelavin: Daniel is in his fourth decade of transforming images into cogent and compelling messages for publishing, advertising and communication design. He shares his knowledge and experience with students and fellow professionals alike and continues to play a pioneering role in the evolution of digital art and the seamless merging of design and illustration.
Tom White: Tom White of 9 Surf Studios is a classically trained illustrator / designer / typographer who is fully immersed in the modern media. He is one of the original pioneers of digitally-based image design started in the early 90s. For 25 years he has been working with clients in the areas of education, business, science & technology, healthcare, publishing, sports, entertainment, and games.
Gerard Huerta: is a designer of letter forms and creator of custom artwork. Born and raised in southern California he graduated from Art Center College of Design and began his career at CBS Records in New York designing album covers and creating letter forms and logos for Boston, Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult, Rick Derringer, Bob Dylan, Ramsey Lewis, The Isley Brothers, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, George Benson, Rupert Holmes, Stephen Stills, The Charlie Daniels Band and others.

Our students are making their way into competitions regularly.
Donna Choi, MFA ’14 will be
featured in the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles (SILA) annual show.
This is especially sweet for Donna- she moved clear across the country
to study with us, but hails from the West Coast.
Miracle Sea Roadpart of a body of work that was initiated during her studies in the MFA, is on exhibit from March 8-12, at Gallery Nucleus in Pasadena, CA.
