{"id":927,"date":"2011-04-01T10:14:27","date_gmt":"2011-04-01T15:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/?p=927"},"modified":"2014-02-10T22:28:28","modified_gmt":"2014-02-11T03:28:28","slug":"did-someone-say-cotton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/2011\/04\/01\/did-someone-say-cotton\/","title":{"rendered":"Did someone say Cotton?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>10 days and counting until D-day.\u00a0 I remember when that looming date of April 11th seemed light-years away.\u00a0 The general mood among the class: PANIC.\u00a0 Welcome to the REAL Project Runway.\u00a0 The Challenge?\u00a0 Complete an intimate apparel ensemble in 10 days made using at least 95% Cotton.\u00a0 Now while you&#8217;re making this ensemble, make sure you are also interning two days a week and taking at least 12 credit hours to stay a full time student.\u00a0 Which brings up another good point:\u00a0 Our professors in other classes ACTUALLY expect us to do THEIR work this week!?!?\u00a0 I mean, can you say BIG PICTURE?!?!<\/p>\n<p>Well, for all the griping, second ensemble is actually coming along pretty well.\u00a0 I have the bra and garter finished, and am currently trying to dye the panty.\u00a0 I would love to start on the robe, but I decided to try to save money and buy my cotton tulle on-line.\u00a0 Only yesterday did I find out that the guy sent it PARCEL POST after I specifically said I need is ASAP!\u00a0 Utter FAIL.\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying to knock out anything else that can be done while I&#8217;m waiting for the arrival of this grand package.\u00a0 This includes but is not limited to dyeing, cutting lace, beading, making bows, making a petticoat, and draping the robe.\u00a0 No big deal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN3385.jpg\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-928 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN3385-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN33861.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-933\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN33861-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/> <\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN33871.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-934\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN33871-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN33881.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-938\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.fitnyc.edu\/futureoffashion\/files\/2011\/04\/DSCN33881-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and apparently we&#8217;re asking to much to have the supplies we need actually available in the garment district!\u00a0 Since Greenberg and Hammer went out of business last year, it has been impossible to find garters!\u00a0 Steinlauf and Stoller only carries the VERY large vintage ones.\u00a0 So what do we do?\u00a0 Typically we do one of two things:\u00a0 Cut apart a garment from a previous semester that has garters;
