ARTSpeak Lecturer: Abigail DeVille

Artist and FIT alumna Abigail DeVille, speaks on her work on Friday, October 24th from 1:30 – 2:30 pm, in the Katie Murphy Amphitheatre, in FIT’s Pomerantz Center, entrance on the corner of 27th Street and 7th Avenue.

ARTSpeak 2014-2015, presented by the departments of Fine Arts and History of Art, includes a series of events on the theme of Outside Traditions.

Abigail DeVille received her MFA from Yale University in 2011 and her BFA from FIT in 2007.  She has exhibited a growing constellation of site-specific installations in the United States and Europe.  Her most recent exhibitions include Material Histories at the Studio Museum in Harlem (2014); Outside the Lines at the Contemporary Art Museum Houston (2014); Invisible Men: Beyond the Veil, Galerie Michel Rein, Paris (2013); and the Future Generation Art Prize at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013).  Her work has been written about in New York Magazine, The New York Times, and Artforum.com.  Ms. DeVille is a 2012 Joan Mitchell Foundation grant recipient and is a 2014-15 fellow at The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University.
