I have another book for you all! It’s one of my most favored books, and after reading, I bet it will be on yours as well. It’s called Steal Like An Artist<\/em> and is about the shared elements of the creative process.<\/p>\n

It was suggested to me be one of my trusted mentors a few years ago and I find myself continuously referencing it. This is especially true now that I am embarking on my own new artistic endeavors.I am DJing my first show in 2.5 weeks, and I am feeling all of those feelings couched in between nervous and petrified. I also know the many, many artists here at FIT experiencing a similar journey and I want to share knowledge that can benefit us all. <\/p>\n

What I enjoy about this book most is that different parts resonate with me depending on where I am in the process of my project. It’s great because it’s easy an easy read, has great graphics & can be easily carried around on the train. Here’s a few quotes that I’m connecting with in particular during my current artistic journey. <\/p>\n

1. Don’t Wait Until You Know Who Are To Get Started:<\/strong>
\n…[imposter syndrome]. It means that you feel like a phony, like you’re winging it, that you really don’t really have any idea what you’re doing. Guess what: None of use do. Ask anybody doing truly creative work, and they’ll tell you the truth: They don’t know where the good stuff comes from. They just show up to do their thing. Every day.<\/p>\n

2. Be Nice (The World Is A Small Place)<\/strong>
\n…So get comfortable with being misunderstood, disparaged, or ignored– the trick is to be busy doing your work to care. <\/p>\n
