All systems Go[ne]!

We’ve had a bit of a week here at V&I. You may have noticed that all of FIT’s blogs lost 3 weeks’ worth of content earlier this week. I felt a lot like good ol’ Wile E. there. The system restored yesterday, with my most recent posts returned, and I can breathe a bit easier!

Our tech folks say it seemed to be caused by a clash of 3rd-party plug-ins. We just think it was a scary week, with lots of tinkering behind the scenes. So we’re not publishing much this week. We’re still thinking of you, though. And planning for summer MoWs and longer posts. Stay tuned to see what we’re doing.

In the meantime, I wanted to point out some FIT and NYC events coming up, which I will be writing about. First of all, the Future of Fashion 2018 , FIT’s runway showcase for the Fashion Design graduating seniors, will be Thursday, May 3. In years past, other students’ work has been put on display in our great hall. When those works go up, I will post some about them.

Also that first week of May is the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual gala, in conjunction with the opening of the next Costume Institute show, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. The gala, which is May 7, is the biggest fashion event of the New York year, and I will be reviewing its red carpet along with my Red Carpet Bingo card, as I have the Oscars.

So watch for our normal posting schedule next week, when I will pick up where I left off.
