I was just noodling around, looking for new developments in sustainability and textiles, and stumbled upon this site:

Innovation in Textiles: Events Calendar

There are four major conferences on textiles in just the next two weeks. That’s a good indicator that textiles continue to be important in the world economy. From the ancient silk road to major conferences in both China and Tennessee in the same week? That’s really cool, if you think about it. The speed of air travel now would make it possible for you to travel to both if you really wanted to. As opposed the trip taking three to six months, depending on the animals you could buy and the weather.

This article is about a 1700 year old cemetery recently discovered in a place on an old Silk Road route:

This site uses the Silk Road as a sales tool for modern-day tourism in China:

We have books and articles on both new-tech textiles and the ancient silk road, which you can find easily in StyleCat. Enjoy your research!
