Magazine of the Week

Dig, if you will, a magazine. Dance for an even more important life.

Hold on. What?? Needle scratches across…

Prince Rogers Nelson, one of the most talented and prolific entertainers of the twentieth or twenty-first centuries, died Thursday, April 21st at his home in Minneapolis. As cool as V Magazine is, Prince was cooler. I hope you have been listening to his stuff all weekend because what other homage is there to a great musician?

But we have to say something about the MoW because we are the periodicals collection. V Magazine is Visionaire’s mass-market little sister. Visionaire was begun in 1994 as a collective of artists, fashion designers, writers, film makers, editors, museums and galleries, who put out multi-media product two or three times a year. Part magazine, part art object, part thinking-person’s toy, the objects are designed by inspirational people to inspire other creative people with a point of view on the current scene. We could not afford a subscription to it here in the library, but the Museum at FIT has a mostly complete run of them. More recently they have added film components which are only available through their website.

ABOUT Visionaire

V Magazine

V Magazine is, as described by its publisher, the pret a porter to Visionaire’s couture.  Like it’s fancier sister, V covers fashion, art, music, and popular culture. However, it is much more affordable because it’s a more-standard magazine format. We subscribed to it as soon as we heard about it, and we have a pretty complete run of it. You can request it at the PERS desk, library 6th floor.
