Google via Text Message

April 8, 2013 | By | 1 Reply More

SMSYou are staring at the one bar of cell service you have in the subway just praying that  the web browser will return an answer before you leave the station……. and it starts to load just as you leave. Rats.

Did you know that you can text Google (466453) a question and get an answer back in seconds without the hassle of waiting for a mobile browser to load?

Try it – and you can even set your default location by texting “SET LOCATION” followed by your city or zip code. The SMS search can give you info on weather, sports, etc.  To find out the weather text “weather” and your zip code and you will get a three-day forecast.

You can even use SMS to check appointments on your Google Calendar or post to Blogger.

Article on Tech Crunch called “Google Quietly Kills SMS Search, Closing One Way Of Connecting With Mobile Users Who Don’t Have Data Plans” has the details.
