Wireless Printing
Ask IT: Question & Answer Forum:
Hi,
I’m a freshman who just moved into Alumni Hall in 2F. I have a wireless enabled printer which I’d like to share with my 3 roommates via the FIT dorm network. As a part of setting up the printer, I tried to setup the Wi-Fi connection – it found the network and said that it was successfully configured but when we try to use the printer on our PCs it cannot find it – it is not visible as a selection. The printer was installed on the PC and works if hard wired via a UBS cable. Are we able to add a printer to the network for sharing purposes? The computers are Mac laptops and the printer is an Epson archival 730.
Thanks,
Kelly Millington
Answer:
Hi Kelly,
Unfortunately we do not allow wireless printing in our infrastructure. The printer has to be hardwired to a computer in order to use it for printing.
