Ask IT: Question & Answer Forum

I live in Coed Hall and the wireless in my room is absolutely horrible. It’s very slow and randomly turns off when I’m in the middle of something. I’m using the FITDORM network and I have downloaded everything the website said I needed. I’m using a mac, are there computer setting I should change, or could there possibly be something I’m doing wrong? Thanks.

Answer:

Hi Cora,

IT and ResLife are aware that there are certain rooms in Coed where the wifi signal is not strong enough due to the structure of the building. IT is continuing to find these “holes” and working towards a solution. In the mean time I suggest you use a longer ethernet cord to connect directly to the jack in your room. If you do not have one please let me know and we will be able to provide you with one.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
