On Friday April 1 @ 2pm, IT for FIT will disable an old and unsecured method of receiving email on phones called POP 3. The majority of the FIT Community has been configured to use a different reliable and secure protocol. However, there could be a few users with personal phones that could be affected by this change.
This change is for Faculty and Staff only.
So, how will this change effect you? Most likely you wont even notice the change there will be increased security and will aid in supporting restore email functions.
Some users may experience an interruption if they chose the Account Type to be a POP3 instead of selecting Exchange when setting up their phone to receive emails from FIT. Instructions on how to configure your mobile phone to receive exchange email is available on the Self Service Help Desk.
