To all of the new and returning students is fall – welcome!  We wish you the best for a great semester.

A question that we get frequently is, “What computer should I buy?”

FIT Associated Stores

FIT Associated Stores

It’s a good question, especially with the deals to be had right before the new school semester.  Every department here has its own individual requirements, so the best source is the main office for your particular major.  Some departments have very specific requirements, while others might leave it up to you depending on your preference.

I can however help with pointing you in the right direction for discounts that you might like to take advantage of.  By now, you probably have your FIT username and password to access information within the MyFIT portal.  Once logged in, you will see a group of links on the home page called, “FIT Associated Stores.”

There you find links to Apple, Dell, and Microsoft products.  There are even links to phone service providers (worth checking out!!!).  Right now there a promotion running for FIT students, staff, and faculty through September 7th, where you can get a free 8GB iPod touch if you buy a new computer through the provided link to the educational store.

With that said, nothing substitutes doing your homework (they made me say that) so be sure to shop around.  For more information of what is available to your through the department of Information Technology at FIT, check out IT’s homepage.
