Introducing New Precollege Blogger – Christian

Fashion is a splash of color on a gloomy day. It can brighten any mood and is just another way to show expression. Fashion is outrageous, outlandish, a bit over the top, but could be extremely simple and elegant. Fashion is poetic. Fashion is simply fantastic.

My name is Christian, I am 17 years old and I am from Long Island, New York. Fashion is my life; it’s an obsession, actually. My favorite types of styles vary, as I love little things from different styles.

I love the dark, romantic, gothic types of clothing, but hate when it gets too intense, or too dark. I love the vintage look, but when they use such boring colors, I get bored of it. I love vibrancy, bright colors, and different constructions in garments.

During the day, I love to critique people I go to school with and analyze what they are wearing, how it was constructed, and what they could have worn to make the outfit look better. As for my own personal style, I love to wear pretty much anything. Lately, I have been dressing more dark and mysterious, but usually I love wearing colors that pop (any color that gives you a headache, I’m sure you’ll see me wearing), skinny jeans are always a must, and usually a darker colored shoe (I don’t want people’s attention to be on my feet, as my other clothes and accessories are much more important). Ever since I was 10 years old, I just KNEW I was going to play a role in the fashion industry, whether it be working for a well known company, creating my own successful brand, or even just becoming a seamstress, I knew I was just meant to be a part of the industry. My passion for the fashion industry is almost as intense as my desire to become a part of the F.I.T. family, and becoming a Precollege blogger is just the first step in the right direction.

F.I.T. is a fantastic institution that all fashion design hopefuls should really try to take advantage of. Other than the great atmosphere, the experienced faculty, and the diversity of its students, you gain tremendous knowledge and experience, which really prepares you for whatever field you are hoping to succeed in. Over the course of the past 3 months, I have enrolled myself in 3 different courses;  Fashion Art for Fashion Designers, Advanced Fashion Art for Fashion Designers (which is the class I’m currently signed up for this fall session), and Intermediate Sewing and Embroidery Design. These courses really helped and continue to help shape me as not only a designer, but as a person. Not only did I meet friends with the same interests as me, but I also got a little taste of what the industry will be like.  One of the biggest reasons I am excited to blog about my experience at F.I.T. is to spread the word about this great institution. Also, as I am one of the only boy Precollege bloggers, I think its fun to show that guys can do it too, since everyone believes fashion is only for girls!

Currently, my goal is to get accepted into F.I.T. and prove to myself that I am exceptional when it comes to fashion design. Although the admission process for F.I.T. is extremely challenging and difficult, I feel like if I get through the process successfully, I’d be able to accomplish anything thrown at me. I hope everyone has enjoyed there experience at F.I.T. thus far, as I know you’re experience will only continue in a positive way.
