Faculty Show at Norman Rockwell Museum

Every Saturday in our fall semester, the lights dim and beloved professor  Murray Tinkelman delivers his rollicking take on the History of American Illustration to our students. When he is not lecturing, he is always working and now, has a solo show, Baseball, Rodeos, and Automobiles: The Art of Murray Tinkelman at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Ma., March 29-June 15, 2014.

Explore the award-winning art of Murray Tinkelman, a Hall of Fame illustrator whose pen-and-ink drawings have captured the essence of the American experience for more than Screen Shot 2014-03-07 at 7.30.23 PMsix decades. The artist’s work has appeared in such national publications as Atlantic MonthlyThe New York Times, and The Washington Post, and have been commissioned by The National Park Service and The U.S. Air Force, among others. An exceptional educator, he has inspired generations of illustrators at Syracuse University and the Hartford School of Art. Baseball, rodeos, classic cars, Native American culture, and other themes that inspire the artist’s passionate, life-long interest will be reflected in the works on view.
