Fashion’s Night Out – Recap

By , September 15, 2011 10:15 am

HOT TOPICS INSIDERS spread out in full force on 9/8/11.
Christine Helm (Enterprise Center) checked out the Meatpacking District.
Paige Smith (Continuing Education) checked out Midtown – south.
Joan Volpe (Professional Studies) checked out Midtown – north.

The three of us had similar, yet different experiences. We all had a great time and none of us bought anything, though we were all tempted. And new stores were discovered, if only to us. What did you do for FNO 2011?

Christine Helm:

Checkout the artwork from Ippolita! http://www.ippolita.com/reliquaryartexhibit

Paige Smith:

Outside of Macy's to see Tommy Hilfiger introduce Joss Stone.

Desigual was handing out free reusable bags, definitely a unique store for the 34th Street area.

I was greeted outside of Lord & Taylor by the Jets Flight Crew cheerleaders.

Lines were everywhere; for Ivanka Trump to sign shoes, a raffle box, photo booths, etc. I joined the line for the free martinis.

Then over to check out Solange Knowles spin some tunes in the DJ booth.

It was a fun evening and I think L&T pulled off a very successful evening to draw in the younger crowds, like myself.

Joan Volpe:

Loved BG’s buxom blond transgender greeter, too bad about the poly dress! Next year put her in something fabulous.

Saks with the electric graffiti proved that a grand old store can easily do young and the music was once again the best of all the stores.

Paula Dorf pictured with celeb makeup artist Lenora was making great use of her new space in Bendel’s.

The Swarovski crystal tattoo parlor in the Bendel’s window really made you want to bedazzle yourself.

We caught our very own Master Class instructor – and national make up director for Elizabeth Arden Spas, Lindsay Ebbin in front of their 5th Ave.

Red Door with a team of makeup artists and an array of models showing off glamor looks.

Of course, who could deny that one of the best highlights of the night was the traffic stopping Rockettes’ performance outside the new Michael Kors store and who knows Michael, maybe “Dancing with the Stars” will be your next TV gig?

As to one of the best kept secrets and totally classy cool parties, Paul Stuart on Madison had a great old school prepped up DJ with a super vintage Madras blazer and a relaxed civilized crowd.

Meanwhile our Soho Insider says you could not move and the Meatpacking venue was definitely worth it. Probably the most transformative image award of the night should go to L&T.  “Oh My Lord”  Way to go!
