Some of you may have noticed that the lovely little  has now appeared to the right. What is it? It’s Pinterest! Have no idea what Pinterest is?

Well, let me give it to you in a nutshell…

For our purposes, it’s our Instructor & Student Think Tank with topics relating to our Certificate Programs and noncredit classes.

It’s an online scrapbook that students and instructors can use to clip and contain ideas / images, so they are put together as a giant ‘think tank’.

Love is in the air!

By , February 8, 2012 3:41 am

It’s that time of the year again! Love is in the air! Now, I think you should love yourself EVERYDAY and receive love EVERYDAY but on this day, you might want to show it just a little more. We could all use a little more love.

Whether you’re going on a date with your Valentine or hanging out with friends, you’ve got to look good to feel good! It doesn’t have to break the bank either.

Rule #1: When buying outfits for a “themed” holiday or special occasion, you should make sure you can wear it more than once a year.

Rule#2: You should be comfortable!

Rule #3: Don’t over spend. Come up with a budget and stick to it.

I found a few looks to fit whatever mood you find yourself in on Valentine’s Day.

If you’re feeling sophisticated, try this Classic look

Asos red dress

Are you a free spirit? Try this Boho look

Asos white dress

Do you like to be different? Here’s a Modern look

Asos green pattern dress

Is “Bling” a major word in your vocabulary? Here’s a show stopping Glam look

Asos bling dress

All of these looks can be worn through out the year and probably go with a pair of shoes you already own. They are also all under $100 and can be found on www.asos.com! You can look fantastic on a budget. Just because it’s Valentine’s Day, you don’t have to wear red! Be adventurous. Be unique.

So love yourself and look your best this Valentine’s Day. Send a picture to show us your look!

BEST OF SHOW AND COLOR, COLOR, COLOR

THE COLOR CORNER

The Native American Clothing Contest took place on the Plaza in Santa Fe on Aug 21 on the last day of SWAIA’s famous 90 year old Indian Art Market. One of the judges was Tom Ford (who lives in Santa Fe) and it was a very high profile event. Ford said in the New Mexican Newspaper that “color, composition and creativity are all essential to good design…..but the energy and effort put into each piece of clothing….creates the winning style”.  Some of the outstanding pieces of clothing had deep meanings to the many tribal designers who created them. Against the cityscape of Santa Fe’s Plaza, the light and color made the event irresistible. These photos taken by me, include many of the winners along with street wear on ordinary people. It is a must-see for 2012.

Pet Fashion Program Takes a Bow Wow!

By , September 7, 2011 9:05 am

On Sunday August 14th, Lauren Collier, host of News 12CT’s PET TALK interviewed Pet Product Design and Marketing certificate students Lisa Barnes and Jessica Linder along with CPS Managing Coordinator Joan Volpe for a segment that aired the following week. It was a terrific opportunity for both students who already have launched businesses and a great opportunity for pet lovers  in Connecticut to learn that FIT offers this training. HOT TOPICS INSIDER thought you’d enjoy at look at what went on.
