Pixilated Designs In RGB & CMYK Colors

THE COLOR CORNER

Have you ever used 8-bit pixels to design and color fabric? Inspired by pixels on the computer, pixilated designs express the newness of technology. Pixilation causes your colors to really pop!

Composed of colorful square blocks of color (like giant pixels), the women’s fashions and accessories of Kunihiko Morinaga from Anrealage Fashion Studio, Japan, use pixel art to give an iconic look to his Fall/Winter 2011 collection. Some of Morinaga’s color ways are neutrals, including a pixilated camouflage. Nike has created a line of sport shoes in bright pixilated colors and Cristian Zuzunaga has created pixilated designs for sofas, rugs, beds, and soft seating for some of the best high-end and respected manufacturers including Ligne Roset, Nanimarquina, Hastens, Moroso and scarves for Tate Modern. His colors look like they were borrowed from blankets of strike-offs that were to be approved for printing or chosen for woven jacquards. This scale and faux RGB & CMYK color combinations really work for furniture and many product categories.
