The Future of Fashion

Wednesday May 1st was the Future of Fashion BFA Fashion Show at FIT in New York.  One of the looks in my collection was shipped from Milan to be in the show!  Out of over 200 fashion design graduates of the class of 2013,  90 were chosen from the specializations of Knitwear, Sportswear, Lingerie, Special Occasion, and Children’s wear to have their looks walk down the catwalk at the show.  I was extatcic to be able to be a part of the show in New York all the way from Milan.

Click Here to see a video of the show.  If you dont have time to watch the entire thing, my look comes out at 11:14

Senior Thesis Critique

Last week we had a meeting with our critic Professor Debora Sinibaldi to show her the progress of our collections and discuss any changes or additions that need to be made.  My 4 looks are all getting much closer to being finished as the show approaches.  The FIT Milan Senior Show will be Wednesday May 29th!  Here are some photos from the critique, a ‘sneak peak’ if you will of the development of my collection.  I am not going to explain in detail the photos because I do not want to give to much away!!

Enjoy

Shipping my Knitwear off to NYC for the BFA Fashion Show

The past couple of days I have been working nonstop to get one of my garments ready in time to send it to NYC for the FIT BFA Fashion Show.  This year they are representing some garments from the FIT Milan program in the show!  It is a huge honor to be able to show my garments in both the New York and Milan shows.  I was able to finish my first look just in time to be shipped off to NYC.  Heres a sneak peek ….

This look is an oversized knit sweater with a pointed stitch that I designed on the ShimaSeki electronic knitting machines.  The sweater is made of 100% mercerized cotton that was donated to me from FiloScozia.  After the sweater is knit I hand dyed and hand painted it.  The tights in the final look below are made from the print that I developed in my screen printing class in Lake Como.    You can look to my creative portfolio to better understand the concept behind my collection:)

Photo Journal: Catching Up with a trip to Torino!

Spring is the time where we come out from underneath the cozy covers that we have been hiding under for the winter and breath in the first breath of warm, sweet air. I am just now waking up after hibernating through the dreary, wet and cold winter.  I have a back log of photos on my computer from these last few months of travels, field trips, trade shows and experiences that I will try to share over the next few weeks.

But when last we left off, I had a little time on my hands to take a day trip to the lovely city of Torino.
