Overview – The buyer is responsible for setting the fashion direction; creating the seasonal plan by department, class and sku, creating the Open To Buy plan by month in units/dollars, editing assortments, ordering and timing deliveries, overseeing the look of the sales floor with the merchandise crew, tracking sales, reorder’s, markdowns, plan promotions, season transition and repeat. In short, a person who understands the business from before the merchandise arrives until it leaves in the customer’s hands. Our fashion customers are women, aged 16-45, with the 16–30 demographic as our prominent buyer.
–Set department direction, priorities and communicate plan effectively.
–Develop and execute seasonal merchandise plans.
–Complete accurate OTB plan monthly, in units and dollars at dept/class level.
–Place purchase orders and re-orders to ensure timely delivery of merchandise.
–Develop assortment plans.
–Analyze weekly and monthly sales and inventory reporting.
–Manage in-season pricing to achieve financial objectives.
–Manage IMU, MMU and markdown strategies.
–Generate purchase orders and maintain product flow.
–Manage delivery timelines.
–Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels for all fashion merchandise.
–Maintain vendor relationships.
Requirements: The following skill set (in no particular order) is the bare minimum you’ll need:

In addition to the above skill set, other minimum qualifications are:
–Strong experience in merchandise buying, planning and budgeting.
–Expertise in retail math including Merchandise Information Systems experience.
–Demonstrated experience in OTB assortment and category planning.
–Bachelors degree from a 4 year college or university.
–Minimum 3-5 years retail buying experience including your own vendor connections.
–Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
–Regular travel to trade show and markets.
–Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
–Expertise in Microsoft Office and proficiency in creating detailed Excel spreadsheets.
–Strong business aptitude with negotiation skills and demonstrated success working independently, as part of a team and delivering results including setting measurable goals and building relationships.
–Passion for customer service excellence.
