Beautiful Travels

Hey everyone so my project that I am currently working on is a group project. We have to design a floor for an art magazine in a building, so I have been doing a little research about different museums . It’s amazing to see how they are designed architecturally, graphically, ect. But some of the pictures are just to beautiful not to show everyone. These are definitely places I would like to visit and maybe once you see them you will too. 4f78b6614b81ac387108e29008013f67This first one is  called the “Underwater Museum”  in Cancun, Mexico. More than 400 life-sized sculptures are made from neutral clay in order to promote the growth of coral reef and marine life. You actually swim through it, As soon as I saw this I texted my best friend and said “UM CAN WE GO?!” So guess where I am going this summer…Cancun here I come!

7aab9ae8e40ef86869183c42dae4169e This is called the “Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum” and it is  in Seattle. There are thousands of beautiful glass flowers all over the place. As I kept looking through the pictures I found one of it glowing at night, it was simply the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. My brother is going to Seattle to visit our cousin in July, I might just have to tag along now ( THANKS GABE in advance if you are reading this ).

45435bb024c55f8678b1b2167d977cb4This is in the London transport museum, the architectural details are just beyond beautiful. Imagine if New York subways, bus stations, and train stations had beautiful work like this? I know I would never want to leave, instead of the fast pace walk I do now.

Theres hundreds more that I found but I only chose my top three to show you. If you want to see more I found a lot on this website: http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/worlds-most-beautiful-buildings

Let me know what you think, any suggestions where else I should vacation?

All work No play

Hi again everyone! So on Saturday I was asked to show more of my work now from a lot of people, mostly students. I can’t show too much because well professors don’t like that for the classes and I can’t have anyone steeling my brilliant ideas! SO every once in a while you will get a backstage pass to ” a life of an interior design student at FIT” ( That’s right I am an interior design student and I am alive haha).

hhThis first image is a quick idea I did on Revit. For those of you who don’t know what Revit is, it’s a 3D design program made by the same producers of AUTOCAD, both these programs work hand in hand. You will learn AUTOCAD your second semester and REVIT your third, so before that it’s all by hand.

unnamedThis is a perspective drawing, you will learn this in your second semester. perspectives are 3D drawings focusing on two or more walls. To make these drawings you will take your drafting equipment and two vanishing points…. I can’t tell you that much :) You will have to wait to take the class. P.S every teacher switches there plans, so it may look similar to things I may post on here, but trust me it’s not so nothing can be copied here and that’s the only reason I am posting it.

I hope you enjoyed your little sneak peek, now it’s time to get back to work for me!

Junior Day 2014- March 30th

Well hey everyone! This past weekend I was given the pleasure of meeting some of you, it was Junior day. Junior Day is for perspective students of FIT, of ALL majors. They will take you on tours, you will be able to meet with the dean and the president of the school, and you can meet some of the bloggers (exciting right? A REAL LIVE PERSON). I had the pleasure of presenting my portfolio to perspective art and design students along with our other blogger Ashley. Both of us being from two very different majors was definitely fun to see. Ashley is a photography major while I am an interior designer.

When they asked me if they could use my portfolio pieces from when I first entered school I said “UMMM do you have to?!” , because my work has improved so much just from the past two years. Looking back at that work it looked horrible to me and I would prefer that no one saw it again. But everyone insisted I showed it. After the presentation I was lucky enough to meet a few perspective interior design students, it reminded me of how I felt exactly two years ago. Nervous, anxious, and in complete aw of the big city. It’s crazy how your feelings and mindset change so quickly. New York to me now is still exciting, just not as big as I originally thought it was and interior design still has me in aww I’m just not as nervous.

During this session I offered a few students some direction and guidance from me, and I actually had one text me pictures for her portfolio, and I’m more than happy to help. Who better to help you then the person actually in the program right? Trust me in coming students I was just as nervous too, and I turned out great.

One question that really stood out to me was from a father with his daughter and he asked “How does commuting affect your social life?” and I replied ” I have 3 jobs, time for friends, homework and my boyfriend so not much”. Yes commuting does affect your life greatly but if you love what you do that time you put in doesn’t matter much now does it? I love every single one of my jobs I wouldn’t trade them for the world, so no matter how tired I am I am always happy to go, school is the same way. You have to be willing to sacrifice things sometimes to get what and where you want to be.

unnamedThis was the room we presented in, I had to post a picture of it. ( My love for commercial furniture is just too much).

unnamedThat’s my mom back in the corner, it was her FIRST time to NYC and FIT ever, crazy right? So what better time then when her daughters talking (haha).

If any of you have more questions feel free to ask me, or come to the next Junior Day on March 30th, I will be speaking again from 11-1:00pm in the Dubinksy Building 8th floor. I hope to see you all soon, I really do love seeing perspective FIT students!

Student Of the Month

Like I mentioned in earlier posts I am going to be featuring at least two students a month, one that is in my major or major related area and another that i will randomly pick when i am around school.

For the first post I decided to pick one of my friends from first semester Melissa Guglielmo. She is a fourth semester interior design student, with an great passion for this program. Besides being in the interior design program Melissa also works 3-4 days as a bartender back home in Long Island. She is a commuter student that is always striving for something better in life. Melissa also attended community college before coming to FIT, she really enjoyed there program in interior design also and she felt like it helped a lot when coming to FIT. When she isn’t at school she enjoys her time with friends and family and anything that is fun and adventurous.

One thing that i can say from knowing Melissa is that she is a very hard worker, she will work then stay up all night to get her projects done. Her great work ethic is going to make her go far in life. Melissa is going to stay at FIT for her bachelors in Interior Design so one day she can become a certified interior designer.

Thanks so much Melissa for the short interview!unnamed

I’m on the look out for some more students! Look out FIT im here to get to know you!

Healthy Body

Lately school, internships, jobs, homework have all been over whelming me a little bit. Since I currently can’t go shopping because I am a broke college student ( haha) I’m trying to find other ways to make do with the situation. So I’m trying to find positive things in life, quotes, music, anything. I just made a board in my room with inspirtational quotes and images on it. Every day you should get up with a postive mindset.

Always, I mean ALWAYS talk to someone about your feelings or what you are going through. For the past month I have been feeling a little strange, dizzy, weak, flu like symptoms. I figured I was just run down but that wasn’t the case! I actually have low blood pressure which is related to anxiety disorder. Low blood pressure, also called hypotension, is blood pressure that is low enough that the flow of blood to the organs of the body   is inadequate and symptoms and/or signs of low blood flow develop.

The treatment for hypotension depends on its cause. Chronic hypotension rarely exists as more than a symptom. Asymptomatic hypotension in healthy people usually does not require treatment. Adding electrolytes to a diet can relieve symptoms of mild hypotension. A morning dose of caffeine can also be effective. In mild cases, where the patient is still responsive, laying the person in dorsal decubitus (lying on the back) position and lifting the legs increases venous return, thus making more blood available to critical organs in the chest and head.untitled

So this semester if you start feeling weird get checked out just in case, it cant hurt. Be aware of your body and how everything is affecting it.

Stay healthy,

XOXO Kailee

Snow Snow go away

So in New Jersey right now we have over a foot of snow, crazy right? It looks like we are getting more this weekend too. So I thought I would give everyone some tips to stay busy.

Obviously you can sit around and watch movies all day or do homework but that’s not fun. To me it is a waste of the day, of course I had to shovel my house and cars out with my dad for half the day but when I got inside I needed something to keep me occupied. SO I went on Pinterest and looked up recipes and workouts ( Yes, I said workouts) .

kkThis is a great exercise for your legs and your abs, you don’t even need to use the free weights. I did about 100 of these and did I feel the burn. After shoveling and doing this I felt like I couldn’t move anymore.

bytThis is another awesome leg/ butt workout, I started by watching a movie on TV and on every commercial I tried to do as many as I could before the movie came back on. I did almost 600! It doesn’t feel hard at first but after a while you will definitely feel it.

lolThis is great for sculpting your abs and butt, remember anyone can do these exercises you just have to get motivated. It maybe snowing but summer and spring beak is right around the corner!

I also found a great recipe for a chocolate peanut butter smoothie, the healthy version!

This chocolaty smoothie is made with Greek yogurt and chocolate soy milk, both of which are rich in calcium, which is great for your bones in this cold weather. There’s also spinach, bananas and cashews, which helps all the ladies with cramps and relieves bloating! Then throw in some avocado and your ready to go! This was the best smoothie I ever had in my life, the ingredients don’t sound the best but just trust me on this one and try it!

So as you can see I’m still maintaining my healthy life style even on the snowiest of days! You can too, just think of how much more energy you will have for school! What are you doing on this snowy day? Anything fun?

It’s that time again…

Hey everyone! This semester is going amazing, a little over whelming but AHMAZING. I have had so many great opportunities that I didn’t think I would have this soon in my career. I started my first internship, and I honestly couldnt be happier there. Everyone is so nice and I just love the work that I do there for them. I’m quitting my resturant job back home and (fingers crossed) I might be making the big move to NYC! Commuting is just killing me lately and my life is starting in this wonderful place.

Let’s see what else have I been up too in the past week or so…

unnamedI’m attempting to keep up my healthy life style while the semester slowly drains me. Later this week I have some tips and exercises you can do to tone. Preparing the meals and the exercises take under thirthy mintues each! Keep reading.

sfasI went to the Chiense New Year bamboo giveaway at school the other day, so much fun! They had candy and snacks, bamboo plants, and you could even make your own latern.

weOn a class trip I was able to see the Kate Spade store on Madison Avenue. As you have all seen I’m a HUGE fan, I have eveything Kate Spade. When I walked into the store the ladies went crazy over me realizing I was all Kate Spaded out.

dsI recieved a nice surprise on my car one night after I got off the train. Someone made me a build a bear :), I’ve been getting presents and flowers like crazy lately. I cant wait to see what happens on valentine’s day. I have a feeling I might be getting asked out, but I wont spare to many details you’ll just have to wait and see!

dghCurrrently I am in the library working hard on my project , drawing, computer rendering, and using every spare second I can to make this project the best one I have ever done! These are two perspectives I just did, So far I’m pretty happy with how it is coming out.

fysjToday I got ready in a record ten minutes before I had to run to the train. Oh! I’m a blonde now! A lot of life changes have been happening since school started so I figured why not add one more to the list. I think a lot more surprises will be coming in my next few posts, can’t wait to fill you all in! I’ve decided that my blogs this semester are going to focus a lot more on my readers, SO any suggestions or things you would like me to write about please feel free to comment! And I’m going to start featuring a student every month, so you get to know other people besides the bloggers. Keep a look out for me at school , who knows you maybe next!
